Introduction
Sargus is a cosmopolitan genus, with 47 described species found in Central and South America, 21 in Europe, 17 in sub-Saharan Africa, and a few elsewhere in the world. S. decorus has been observed in large conspecific swarms (Woodley 2001).
Characteristics
Sargus can be distinguished from other Nearctic Sarginae except Microchrysa by the bare eye, the distal projection on the calypter, and the anterior ocellus further away from the posterior ocelli than the posterior ocelli are from one another (James 1981).
